Abstract

Purpose: The present study is a descriptive survey that performed analysis through literature review, workshops, and open?ended subjective and structured questions in order to establish the missions, values and visions of the nursing branch.

Method: This research was conducted from March 1st to November 30th, 2008. In the process, we reviewed various kinds of literature and materials to collect information on the missions, values and visions of the nursing branch, and collected opinions from high?ranking officers of the nursing branch via subjective descriptions and workshops.

Results: According to the results of this study, the most commonly voiced mission of the nursing branch was to ¡®Protect the healthy and happy lives of the army personnel and the citizens through the highest?quality army nursing care.¡¯ In addition, the selected vision for military nurses was to look toward ¡®Establishing nursing readiness to meet the demands of the army and the country in the 21st century,¡¯ and the values included were ¡®Respect for human beings,¡¯ ¡®A High level of professionalism,¡¯ ¡®Sincere devotion¡¯ and ¡®Harmony and unity,¡¯ and three subordinate values under each of the main values.

Conclusion: The results of this study are expected to contribute positively to the sense of unity among nursing branch members, to the achievement of common goals through focused capabilities, and ultimately to the development of the nursing branch as a whole.
